A gameplay trailer that aired last month confirmed Contracts 2 would be going heavier on the gory kills than ever before, showing the game's protagonist exploding enemy heads with well-placed shots. The game will allegedly offer extreme long-range kills, making the player drop targets from up to 1000m away, while it's also said to focus on a dramatic story. This time around, players will pursue a blood-thirsty crime syndicate in the Middle East, attempting to shut down their operation through a series of increasingly difficult missions. The base version of Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will once again task players with making their name as a legendary sniper, accepting contracts and completing stealthy assassinations. Speaking on what to expect from the additional content, the studio claims it'll offer an expansive region filled with new contracts to complete. CI Games has also promised that it will make up for the disappointing news by releasing the game's first DLC for free across all platforms. PlayStation 5 users wanting to get themselves a copy of the game at release can still play Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2's PlayStation 4 version, which will eventually offer a free upgrade to the next-generation port when it launches. RELATED: PS5 Console Exclusive Deathloop Delayed According to a press release on Twitter, the postponement is due to an "unforeseen technical issue" that the team only recently discovered, promising that it's working hard to ensure the PlayStation 5 port is of a similar quality to other platforms. To clarify, the decision has no impact on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions of the game, all of which will still release as intended on June 4. Unfortunately, it seems PlayStation 5 users keen to jump into the next generation of long-range warfare will have to wait a little longer than expected, with CI Games announcing that it has decided to delay the port. The sixth addition to the long-running sniper-stealth franchise, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is shaping up to be one of the series' biggest entries to date, featuring new maps, weapons, and targets.
